Celebrating First HOV Alvin Dive
Ashley Marranzino, a scientist with the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), celebrates after her first dive in human occupied vehicle (HOV) Alvin. Traditionally, upon return to the surface, first-timers are doused with a bucket of ice-cold seawater on the deck of the Office of Naval Research’s Research Vessel Atlantis. Ashley lucked out and was forced to wear a Grenadier hat made from data sheets instead.
