NOAA Ocean Exploration Data and Products

NOAA Ocean Exploration ensures public access to the diverse scientific data and information collected during ocean expeditions that we support, including those on NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer. Data collections vary by expedition. However, most expedition data collections include oceanographic and geophysical data, underwater video and imagery, supporting documentation, secondary products, and published works.

Use the links below to access NOAA Ocean Exploration-supported data, products, and publications.

Data Access

The digital data from NOAA Ocean Exploration-supported expeditions are quality controlled and made freely available to the public through a suite of data access tools via NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information and the NOAA Central Library. Physical samples are made available through established repositories.

Benthic Deepwater Animal Identification Guide

This collection of in situ images serves as a taxonomic reference of deepwater animals encountered during remotely operated vehicle dives during NOAA Ocean Exploration expeditions on NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer around the Hawaiian Islands and Johnston Atoll.

Publications and Reports

Peer-reviewed publications produced as a result of research supported by NOAA Ocean Exploration are available through the NOAA Central Library. Annual reports, other reports, manuals, and other ocean exploration-related publications produced by NOAA Ocean Exploration are also freely available.
