A Laysan albatross observed flying near the Islands of Four Mountains during the 2025 Aleutian Arc expedition. The upwelling that occurs along the Aleutian Island chain makes the waters highly productive (i.e., there’s a lot of marine animal and plant life). As a result, they’re prime feeding grounds for marine birds.
