This swimming sea cucumber (Pelagothuria sp.) was seen at a depth of about 1,400 meters (4,593 feet) while exploring the water column around a seamount dubbed “Keliʻihananui” in the Jarvis Unit of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument during the 2017 Mountains in the Deep: Exploring the Central Pacific Basin expedition.
