Red Crinoid
This vibrant red sea lily (Proisocrinus ruberrimus) was seen at a depth of 2,078 meters (1.3 miles) on an unnamed seamount in the Tokelau Seamount Chain within the Phoenix Islands Protected Area during the 2017 Discovering the Deep: Exploring Remote Pacific MPAs expedition. Interestingly, this species of stalked crinoid is in an order of crinoids (Isocrinida) that can use their arms to move along the seafloor while dragging their stalks behind them.
