During Dive 06 of the 2026 Cook Islands ROV Exploration cruise, we encountered a field of dense polymetallic nodules of various sizes and shapes on the seafloor. These nodules form over millions of years, as sediment and minerals accumulate around a hard nucleus made of something like a sediment clump or a shark tooth.
