While marine life wasn’t abundant during Dive 03 of the 2026 Cook Islands ROV Exploration cruise, we did encounter several interesting invertebrates. This included two different kinds of anemones: a large anemone in the family Actiniidae and tube anemones belonging to the subclass Ceriantharia. We also saw a shrimp who was “gravid,” meaning she was carrying fertilized eggs externally, visible under her abdomen.
