Dive 08: While exploring a second seamount, “B2,” in western Cook Islands waters at a starting depth of 3,700 meters (2.3 miles), we observed transitions between seafloor covered with small, densely packed polymetallic nodules approximately 1-2 centimeters (0.4-0.8 inches) in diameter and larger, bulbous, likely polymetallic-encrusted basalt.
