Tracks on the Seafloor
A number of instances of sediment bioturbation were seen while exploring the deep seafloor of the Cook Islands during the Deep-Sea Habitats of the Cook Islands expedition on Exploration Vessel Nautilus. These tracks on the manganese-nodule-covered seafloor were likely left by a worm or sea cucumber while filtering the sediment for food.
