Coral and Jellyfish
Reminiscent of springtime’s cherry blossoms, this beautiful coral (Metallogorgia melanotrichos) was seen at a depth of 1,178 meters (3,865 feet) on Solide Seamount during the Beyond the Blue: Papahānaumokuākea ROV and Mapping expedition. The small red jellyfish is an unknown species, but has been seen throughout the Pacific dining on coral polyps, like it’s doing here.
