November 21, 2021: Remotely Operated Vehicle Deep Discoverer

Remotely operated vehicle Deep Discoverer hovers in front of a cliff that marks the edge of a coral platform within the Aunuʻu Unit of National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa. Fine sediments derived from the coral platform above accented the grooved channels down the steep slope face. Explored during the first dive of the Mountains in the Deep: Exploring the Central Pacific Basin expedition, which was the first-ever deepwater exploration of the Aunuʻu Unit.
