We encountered this red shrimp with very long antennae during the first remotely operated vehicle dive of the Océano Profundo 2015: Exploring Puerto Rico’s Seamounts, Trenches, and Troughs expedition. The objective of the dive, which started at a depth of 4,055 meters (2.5 miles) was to investigate the geomorphology and potential slope failures in Guajataca Canyon along the Arecibo Amphitheater, a section of the marginal escarpment of the carbonate platform. Watch a video overview of the dive.
