A beautiful black crinoid pointed in the direction of the current. The arms of a crinoid are designed to capture food particles drifting with the water flow. This crinoid was seen at 1,876 meters (6,155 feet) depth, during a dive on Kawio Barat submarine volcano as part of the INDEX 2010: “Indonesia-USA Deep-Sea Exploration of the Sangihe Talaud Region” expedition.
