January 22, 2021: Lionfish

First observed by scientists at Pulley Ridge off the coast of Florida in 2010, the population of invasive lionfish in the area appears to have continued to grow. During the Coral Ecosystem Connectivity 2013: From Pulley Ridge to the Florida Keys expedition, the team commonly saw groups of 6-10 invasive lionfish; in one red grouper pit, they saw more than 30 lionfish.
