A small crustacean in the family Diastylidae collected offshore Koniuji Island at a depth of 804 meters (0.5 miles) during the 2025 Aleutian Arc expedition. Crustaceans are just one type of small animal that lives in the mud of the deep seafloor. Other animals include worms, clams, snails, and occasionally other mollusks as well as brittle stars and sea cucumbers.
