After the successful completion of the Beyond the Blue: Johnston Atoll Mapping expedition, NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer is in port in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. Up next is the Beyond the Blue: Johnston Atoll Mapping 2 expedition, which will be the second and final expedition on the ship this year focused on mapping deep waters around the Johnston Atoll Unit of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument in support of the Beyond the Blue: Illuminating the Pacific exploration campaign. This next expedition will commence on September 14th.
