During Dive 12 of the Seascape Alaska 5 expedition while exploring Noyes Canyon, the team observed brooding behavior in the deep-sea octopus Graneledone boreopacifica, at a depth of 1,558 meters (5,112 feet), as well as a tiny juvenile octopus, (possibly Enteroctopus dofleini) later in the dive.
