Red Shrimp: June 24, 2021

Did you know that many deep-ocean animals, such as this shrimp, are red in color because red light does not reach ocean depths and thus is not visible, meaning that animals that are red are much less visible to predators and prey? This shrimp was imaged swimming just above the seafloor of Hudson Canyon during our 2021 ROV Shakedown. It's kind of mesmerizing to watch it swim, isn't it?
