November 18, 2021: Coral and Bivalves

During the Northeast U.S. Canyons Expedition 2013, the team explored along the western wall of Atlantis Canyon to characterize benthic (bottom) biodiversity and habitats as well as to collect information about canyon geomorphology. At one point, they encountered a ledge where sessile fauna (stationary animals) were prevalent, including the corals and bivalves seen in this image.
