October 29, 2021: Hermit Crab and Fish

It was observed bumping into a slope dragonet (Centrodraco sp.) at approximately 310 meters (1,015 feet) depth while exploring a large, unexplored sinkhole off the Pourtales Terrace during the Gulf of Mexico 2018 expedition.

Even on Hermit Day, a day to take a break from the hustle and bustle and spend some time alone, this hermit crab can’t get away! It was observed bumping into a slope dragonet (Centrodraco sp.) at approximately 310 meters (1,015 feet) depth while exploring a large, unexplored sinkhole off the Pourtales Terrace during the Gulf of Mexico 2018 expedition.
