July 4, 2021: Sea Star

This sea star was observed using its rather long tube feet to move across the seafloor during a dive on the Blake Escarpment, off the Atlantic coast of Florida during the Windows to the Deep 2019: Exploration of the Deep-sea Habitats of the Southeastern United States expedition.

Stars and stripes for the 4th of July! This sea star was observed using its rather long tube feet to move across the seafloor during a dive on the Blake Escarpment, off the Atlantic coast of Florida during the Windows to the Deep 2019: Exploration of the Deep-sea Habitats of the Southeastern United States expedition. The dive site was first mapped by NOAA Ocean Exploration using NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer during the Windows to the Deep 2018 expedition.
