Remotely operated vehicle Deep Discoverer surveying a stunning, near-vertical sequence of carbonate rock at Veatch Canyon, off the coast of Rhode Island. This eastern wall of the canyon had not previously been surveyed by deep-sea submersibles. The site was selected because habitat suitability models predicted that this area could contain deep-sea coral habitat. Check out a video showing the full scale of the wall.
