This bivalve surrounded by cup corals and soft corals was seen attached to a steep cliff face along Hydrographer Canyon. During the Northeast U.S. Canyons Expedition 2013, the team explored a section of the western wall of the canyon from approximately 1,300 to 1,420 meters (4,265 to 4,660 feet) depth for deep-sea coral and sponge habitats and other deepwater fauna and to examine canyon geomorphology.
