March 5, 2021: Long-armed Squid

This long-armed squid in the genus Chiroteuthis swam in front of remotely operated vehicle Deep Discoverer during the first dive of the Discovering the Deep: Exploring Remote Pacific Marine Protected Areas expedition.

This long-armed squid in the genus Chiroteuthis swam in front of remotely operated vehicle Deep Discoverer during the first dive of the Discovering the Deep: Exploring Remote Pacific Marine Protected Areas expedition. These squids are pelagic predators, using their tentacles and arms to capture and consume prey.
