January 24, 2021: Snipe Eel

This snipe eel in the genus Avocettina was seen during water column exploration at the end of a Gulf of Mexico 2017 expedition dive. Scientists believe that these fish use the two parts of their “beaks” to snag the antennae of shrimp for a tasty meal.
