September 21, 2020: Stalked Barnacles

During the very first dive of the 2016 Deepwater Exploration of the Marianas expedition, the team explored a pinnacle located on Santa Rosa Reef, about 30 nautical miles southwest of Guam. This cluster of stalked barnacles was seen with their tentacles, or cirre, extended and ready to feed on organic material floating by in the water column.
