July 13, 2020: AUV Sentry

Autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) Sentry is secured into its cradle after recovery for the last time during the DEEP SEARCH 2017 expedition. During the expedition, the AUV captured thousands of images of the seafloor off the Mid-Atlantic coast, giving scientists a “birds-eye view” of some known sites and some completely unexplored habitats.

In 2018 and 2019, the DEEP SEARCH team completed two more expeditions to the mid- and south Atlantic to further investigate coral, canyon, and seep habitats.
