“Casper” Octopod
This Casper octopod was seen at a depth of over 4.1 kilometers (2.5 miles) in the waters of the Cook Islands’ during the Deep-Sea Habitats of the Cook Islands expedition on Exploration Vessel Nautilus. Nicknamed “Casper” when it was first seen in 2016 during an expedition on NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer, this popular octopod remains undescribed.
