A spectrogram of marine mammal calls observed by a hand held hydrophone in Marion Cove near Korean Antarctic base. Three calls, two at 350Hz and one at 240Hz are most likely Minke whales at a distance outside of the cove. Vertical lines are ice noise, which in the air sounded like a sharp popping sound, according to an explorer, Dr. Minkyu Park. A few horizontal lines visible in the spectrogram (100-175Hz) are the engine noises coming from an R/V Yuzhomorgeologiya anchored in the same cove.
