Microscopic view of an octocoral polyp

A microscopic view of a polyp from the octocoral, Anthelia sp., shown on a glass sponge. The polyp is connected to other polyps in the colony by ribbons of tissue called stolons. The ribbons of tissue contain canals that directly connect all of the polyps’ stomachs.
