Meet National Geographic Society Explorer-in-Residence Sylvia Earle and local scientists aboard the NOAA ship Gordon Gunter and view DeepWorker, a one-person submersible capable of diving down to 2,000 feet. Sustainable Seas Expeditions (SSE), a program of exploration, research and education focusing on America’s National Marine Sanctuary system, continues its mission in 2001 with the “Islands in the Stream” project from May to July, entering international waters for the first time.
