"Flame" at Prometheus Vent with Ash Production

Prometheus vent lies about 100 meters (330 ft) northeast of Hades vent at the summit of West Mata volcano, at a depth of 1,177 m (3,860 ft). Prometheus often displayed a glowing area that resembled a flame, but it is more likely a lava pool that sheds "skins" of lava at its surface and is continuously quenched.
