Anatahan Submarine Volcano (Mixed) (Back to Map)
This is a Quicktime VR movie of Anatahan island, with both colored bathymetry and sidescan sonar imagery (recent lava flows are black). Note the operation of this VR movie is different than the others. After the file has loaded, hold down the mouse button and drag the cursor inside the movie window - left-right mouse movements will rotate the volcano, while up-down mouse movements will change the view between bathymetry and sidescan. A semi-transparent plane represents sea level, and the part of the volcano above sealevel is colored green. Vertical exaggeration is 2.5. Animation by Clay Hamilton and Bill Chadwick.
