A herbarium sheet with red algae


Figure 6 - Suzanne Fredericq holds a herbarium sheet with red algae that were pressed immediately upon collection at the West Flower Garden Bank at about 66 m (200 ft) depth. Illustrated are Kallymenia westii (left), a new species of the Nemastomataceae (center), and an unknown species of Halymenia (right). The Northwestern Gulf of Mexico is remarkably rich in seaweed diversity.
