Third Assistant Engineer Robinson W. Hands, pictured on the far left in the front row, was last seen at post his in the Monitor's engine room. George Frederickson, standing in the back row on the far left, was last seen manning the Monitor's pumps. Both sailors were lost when the Monitor sank on December 31, 1862. |
