This giant Pacific octopus (Enteroctopus dodleini) was thought to be sleeping as scientists observed it on Surveyor Seamount during Dive 05 of the Seascape Alaska 5 expedition. We saw this sleepy octopus, which was around the size of a football, shortly after we ascended above the oxygen minimum zone.
