Transects for the eighth dive of the Papahānaumokuākea ROV and Mapping expedition. Depths for these transects ranged from the deepest at 1,200 meters (3,940 feet) to the shallowest at 300 meters (985 feet). In addition to these five pictured, standardized depths, two transects targeting the deep scattering layer (at 600 meters/1,969 feet and 400 meters/1,312 feet, respectively) were also performed following review of remotely operated vehicle (ROV)-based CTD and shipboard EK60/80 data. Note that pictured fauna (and ROV Deep Discoverer) are not to scale and may not be representative of midwater fauna at this unexplored site and/or at the depths at which they are represented.
