This tiny bristlemouth fish, identified as belonging to the genus Bonapartia, measured less than a centimeter in length. It was seen while exploring the water column at 500 meters (1,640 feet) depth during Windows to the Deep 2021 Dive 13. Throughout the transect at this depth, which coincided with the deep scattering layer, we saw a number of fish, siphonophores, single-celled eukaryotes, jellies, and a few krill.
