Multiple species of bamboo corals were common throughout Dive 06 of Windows to the Deep 2021. The polyps of the single bamboo coral stalk in this image were concentrated on one side, providing us with a good view of its interior skeleton — running down the center of the stalk, you can get a sense of why these are called “bamboo” corals. Seen at a depth of 3,625 meters (2.25 miles).
