Near the end of Dive 03 of Windows to the Deep 2021, we conducted a transect at a depth of 990 meters (3,248 feet), approximately 25 meters (82 feet) off the seafloor. Organisms observed at this depth differed significantly from those seen during the transect conducted 10 meters (33 feet) off the bottom. This fish was not seen previously during the dive; while the team was not able to get an immediate identification, they are hopeful that the incredible zoom capabilities on the remotely operated vehicle will allow for later identification.
