WEBVTT 00:00:01.563 --> 00:00:06.083 A lot of life on this particular rock here. I guess 00:00:06.083 --> 00:00:08.183 very indicative of what we've been seeing since we landed 00:00:08.183 --> 00:00:12.843 which is just been amazing, just beautiful. So, we started 00:00:12.843 --> 00:00:16.443 today's dive in a manganese nodule field and here we are on 00:00:16.443 --> 00:00:18.963 the most northern peak at really quite a shallow depth 00:00:18.963 --> 00:00:22.503 and we landed in these nodules but also really what I would 00:00:22.503 --> 00:00:27.023 consider potentially a garden, a coral garden. 00:00:27.563 --> 00:00:31.603 There are specific metrics that uh you have to count the number 00:00:31.603 --> 00:00:34.543 of colonies within a certain square footage and uh we'll 00:00:34.543 --> 00:00:36.823 certainly be doing a little bit of that analysis later on this 00:00:36.823 --> 00:00:39.763 video. I would has it a guess that this is actually a coral 00:00:39.763 --> 00:00:43.003 garden with the number of species that we see here and 00:00:43.003 --> 00:00:48.763 just the density and diversity. Right now at 1,732 meters depth 00:00:48.763 --> 00:00:50.623 which is uh one of the shallowest dives of this 00:00:50.623 --> 00:00:55.883 expedition. As I sit here in the back row, I have a little 00:00:55.883 --> 00:00:59.243 notebook and I keep a note of what species are occurring on 00:00:59.243 --> 00:01:02.123 this dive and my list is starting to go over into page 00:01:02.123 --> 00:01:05.663 number two. We've seen a lot of species on this dive so far. 00:01:05.663 --> 00:01:08.963 It's really been a wonderfully biologically diverse dive 00:01:08.963 --> 00:01:13.843 particularly for these deep sea corals and sponges. 00:01:15.063 --> 00:01:18.583 Just beautiful.
