WEBVTT 00:00:03.063 --> 00:00:10.963 We are uh about 270 miles northeast of Bermuda. Three seamounts 00:00:10.963 --> 00:00:13.003 have never been visited before. They've never been 00:00:13.003 --> 00:00:16.063 mapped before this morning. We're doing a true exploration 00:00:16.063 --> 00:00:22.403 dive this morning. As Rhian said, this is all new 00:00:22.403 --> 00:00:25.103 exploration, so we're seeing this for the first time. 00:00:25.103 --> 00:00:29.783 There's of course the the iron manganese crust that will tell 00:00:29.783 --> 00:00:32.843 us something about water chemistry and mineral 00:00:32.843 --> 00:00:38.123 composition. We can use that to uh understand the evolution of 00:00:38.123 --> 00:00:42.083 of this seamount and also figure out an age of when the 00:00:42.083 --> 00:00:47.303 material was was erupted. You know, expeditions like this and 00:00:47.303 --> 00:00:50.063 the tools that the Okeanos Explorer provides are really 00:00:50.063 --> 00:00:52.583 valuable because we get this material that can go to the 00:00:52.583 --> 00:00:57.343 museum and then we can do these comparative studies.
