May 20, 2021. At today's dive planning meeting, Expedition Coordinator Mike White (center) conferred with the eDNA team (left) and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's Tim Shank before settling on a site to the east of a series of mounds. The main goal for the autonomous underwater vehicle operations will be to continue to test and tweak the operational capabilities of the vehicle, but there is scientific value in operating the vehicle over a mound if possible, where the vehicle can take photos that might give us more information about the feature, such as what it's made of or whether its providing habitat for marine life.
