This morning, the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer team hosted ship tours for local partners and media while the ship was docked at the U.S. Coast Guard pier in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The one-hour tours provided an inside look at how the Okeanos Explorer operates, with opportunities to see the bridge, mission control room, remotely operated vehicles, and lab spaces, as well as to speak directly with members of the on-ship team. Over 60 local partners took the ship tour, including representatives from local management agencies, academic institutions, non-governmental institutions, the private sector, and media. The team spent the rest of the day conducting their last preparations prior to getting underway tomorrow to start the Océano Profundo 2018 expedition.
