A rarely seen chimaera, spotted during the dive on the southeast side of Johnston Atoll on September 17, 2015. Chimaera are relatives of the sharks, they’re in the cartilaginous fish group. They have a series of pores running along their snouts that are electrosensors used to help them find prey.
