Laemonema is a genus of morid cod. These fish belong to the same family as the North Atlantic codling, family Moridae, but they have a short dorsal fin and very long pelvic rays (feelers used to detect prey). This genus includes several species, all associated with coral and coral rubble habitat. This one was observed head-on at 743 meters (2,438 feet) during the first dive of the second Voyage to the Ridge 2022 expedition.
