Variety of Marine Life
During Dive 02 of the 2026 American Samoa ROV + Mapping Exploration expedition, the team encountered a variety of marine life, including a crinoid, a white flatworm, and a dandelion siphonophore. The yellow stalked crinoid, also known as a sea lily, had its arms extending high into the water column, collecting food as it drifted by. The flatworm wowed the team as it slowly moved over the rocky seafloor. And the dandelion siphonophore, which is a colonial organism, could be seen to be tethered to the seafloor by thin filaments.
