Magnapinna sp.
This very rare deep-sea squid (Magnapinna sp.) was among the more than 400 different species seen in the deep waters of the Cook Islands during the Deep-Sea Habitats of the Cook Islands expedition on Exploration Vessel Nautilus. The vast majority of these species were recorded there for the first time. Other animals included sponges, corals, anemones, crustaceans, gastropods, fish, urchins, and other cephalopods.
