Darrielle Williams and Leonardo Macelloni working together to coordinate sonar operations. The Klein 4000 high-resolution side scan sonar (SSS), towed from the Research Vessel Point Sur, uses beam-formed sound signals to detect features on the seafloor and maps swaths of the seabed. These operations require attention to detail, excellent communication and cooperation between the science party and ship crew. This is an exciting learning environment for the students participating in the Search for SS Norlindo expedition.
