This video shows clips of the excavation process from set-up to the beginning stages of excavation. It begins by showing divers Brendan Burke and Olivia McDaniel securing the dredge hose with screw anchors and the grid with metal or fiberglass stakes. Next, it shows how the sand sucked up from the grid unit is expelled through a set of double mesh bags on the dredge head. If small artifacts are accidentally sucked up during excavation, these bags will collect them. The video ends with the first few stages of the excavation.
